Columbia Bible College
What if you could live your best possible life? Columbia brings together what you need to discover who God designed you to be, with courses and a community that will help grow your faith, sharpen your mind, discover your passions, and learn the skills to make a difference in the world.
This is the college for you if you want to live your faith in the real world. Our campus is in the heart of Abbotsford, a diverse and friendly little city. Here you’ll find tons of learning opportunities, cafés, shops, and amazing proximity to incredible adventures – the ocean, mountains, ski-hills, and the city of Vancouver.
Columbia’s Christ-centered community is down-to-earth, supportive, and really fun. Expect to eat lunch with faculty, experience vibrant worship services, meet caring student leaders who offer to pray with you, and get to know people who will become your friends for life. Students love our residence buildings and our comfy, well-equipped commuter lounge.
Columbia offers one-year certificates, two-year diplomas, and four-year BA degrees. Highlights include the flexible Columbia One certificate, QUEST – a year of discipleship and outdoor adventure – and the new Diploma in Social Entrepreneurship, which will grow your faith, deepen your character, and equip you with business skills to make a positive impact.
Practicums & Internships
All Columbia students complete four service practicum assignments of their choice over their first two years. Third-year students engage in a hands-on internship with the organization or church of their choice, where they receive personal mentoring and practical training in their field of interest. Intercultural Studies interns spend 8-12 months in a cross-cultural setting!
Columbia is home to just over 200 residents and 200 commuters. A diverse and active student body means you’ll find plenty of ways to get involved: student-led worship services, intramural soccer, varsity basketball and volleyball, intramural soccer, missional life events, arts committee, thought-provoking biblical studies forums, and legendary annual paint fights!
Go Bearcats! Columbia has four varsity teams that compete in the PACWEST division: men’s & women’s basketball and volleyball. Friday afternoons belong to intramural co-ed soccer. Train with fellow students for the Bearcat Prowl, our annual 5K Glow in the Dark race, or use the weight room/fitness centre to stay active and beat stress.
UMD (Urban Mission Dynamic) is a rite of passage for every first-year student: a four-day urban plunge into Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Columbia’s student-led Missional Life committee organizes events to serve and care for our local community, and Quest students have the opportunity to spend reading week serving in Costa Rica.
Columbia’s grads go on to a wide range of roles in ministry and the marketplace, as pastors, youth workers, worship directors, outdoor guides, camp program directors, cross-cultural missionaries, humanitarian workers, educators, entrepreneurs and clinical counsellors (after further training). Many grads pursue further studies at either graduate schools, universities, or trades programs.
The best way to decide whether Columbia is a good fit for you is to sign up for one of our View Days at columbiabc.edu/visit. You’ll tour the campus, sample the menu, sit in on a lecture, experience chapel, and have the chance to ask students and staff all your questions.
