Situated in the downtown core of the world’s most multicultural city, students enjoy a wide range of restaurants, social activities and cultural events in the city, as well as having many opportunities for Christian service in this uniquely diverse urban setting.
The community at Wycliffe College is a home away from home, where you will find friendly faces, shared laughter, meals together and communal worship. It is a caring environment where genuine and life-long friendships are cultivated. We offer single-occupancy rooms, daily chapel services, weekly community dinners, and plenty of social and recreational activities that are open to all students and residents.
We offer the traditional Master of Divinity (MDiv) and two optional tracks – Pioneer (MDivP) and Biblical Studies (MDivB) – to prepare students for theological, personal, and vocational formation. The Master of Theological Studies (MTS) allows students to develop a systematic understanding of the Christian faith. Students may also choose to achieve their MTS with a specialization in urban and community development (MTSD). The PhD program trains candidates to carry out innovative research and develop professional competencies for teaching in accredited universities, seminaries, and other settings.
Practicums & Internships
Wycliffe College encourages students to serve locally and globally as part of their personal and academic formation. The Master of Divinity (MDiv) program requires the completion of three practicums; these practicums allow students to gain practical ministry and professional experience in local churches, hospices, social service agencies, and other organizations. The Development track of the Master in Theological Studies program (MTSD) allows students to train in community development and service through internships with our partner organizations.
Wycliffe students are not only engaged in deep theological reflection but also know how to have a good time! The Wycliffe Student Council regularly organize activities such as movie nights, games, outings, intramural sports and spiritual retreats. Wycliffe College also aims to serve the wider church and society by creating space for dialogue that addresses important contemporary issues through regular events and conferences. Students are encouraged to participate, present their ideas and serve in these events.
Wycliffe students enjoy a variety of recreational and intramural sports such as floor hockey, soccer and ultimate Frisbee. Students who attend Wycliffe may also participate in University of Toronto varsity sports and a wide range of athletic facilities on campus, including the Goldring Centre, a facility for high-performing athletes.
Wycliffe College partners with over 20 local non-profits that serve the vulnerable and marginalized in the city. Wycliffe students have been trained through internships with these organizations. Many opportunities are also open for pastoral placements in the local church context, as well as chaplaincy training in hospitals and hospices. International opportunities for missions and teaching are also available. In the past, Wycliffe students have served in teaching and other community projects in countries such as Thailand, Gambia and Japan.
Our faculty and staff are always available to guide students in their vocational journey. Our alumni serve in churches around the world as ordained or lay pastors, in innovative outreach ministries from Alpha to Messy Church, in relief organizations like World Vision, and in secular occupations as leaders in Christ.
